Screen sleuth Miss Marple is to be given a modern day reboot and is to get full on sexed up in the process by being switched from a kindly old lady to, well, Jennifer Garner.
Garner has signed on to play a younger retooling of Miss Marple set in grim, inner city America rather than the faceless rural villages of middle England.
Now i am a big fan of Jennifer Garner after being a loyal fan of Alias for so many years and think she can genuinely act but this does seem a little far of a stretch. It will definitely depend on the script for it to work. The angle of the original Marple was that a kindly old lady could outsmart anyone involved in the crime scene but they'll need far more than that to draw in audiences I think.
And after all, with murder mysteries you really need to pay attention and who's going to pay attention when this is reading out the facts?
