Tron sequel TR2N will be shot entirely in 3D. The technology has become so advanced that the filmakers will be able to watch the 3D rendered footage in real time as it is filmed (this is something that digital technology has been able to do for a couple of years now but it is cutting edge to be able to render live 3D on set.
The advent of modern 3D cinema has been pioneered by James Cameron, who has consistenly broken cinematic boundaries over his career, most notably in Terminator 2.
TR2N is shaping up to be very, very interesting.
