It seems that the long-in-gestation project for Tim Burton's
Monsterpocalypse is finally gearing up for production.
Monsterpocalypse is taken from a miniature driven board game where giant monsters and machines go head to head inside cities and kick the living shit out of each other until one is dead.
The basic story for the movie adaptation is that giant alien monsters come down to earth and
start wrecking the place. The humans fight back and the monsters seem to retreat, but are actually burrowed under the earth and sending a signal to their home world for reinforcements. During this time the humans decide to build gigantic machines to defend themselves with, cue interplanetary
smackdown of epic awesomeness.
Burton isn't a choice I'd expect for this, i would have liked to see it in Zak Snyder's (Watchmen, 300) hands as it seems more like his area but
Burton did do really well with 9 so this might work, although
I've never been a real fan of Burton's and lately his stock is falling with the public opinion and even though Wonderland made a billion, it wasn't my cup of tea at all.
Expect it in 3D and with Johhny Depp and his wife and all the other usual, predictable stuff......
