David Cronenberg's classic Videodrome is being remade into a big budget, full blown special effects-orama.
The original saw James Woods as a seedy, low rent tv producer who stumbles onto a tv channel broadcasting snuff videos and then sees him embarking on a hallucinatory journey inside the television. Strange and gritty the first one was it was also inventive and really good. I first saw it on VHS when a girlfriend bought me it as a gift. Didn't think much of it but iraved about it afterwards so it's once again with mixed feeling that i hear the news of a remake. No doubt it'll be watered down and cleased as much as possible.
Ehren Kruger is writing and producing. He's had a mixed bag sofar, the good; Skeleton Key, Arlington Road. And the not so great; Scream 3, the Brothers Grimm.
We'll have to wait and see if James Woods gets any sort of role in it.
