some of you might remember seeing the high profile trailer for the espionage thriller "Nothing But The Truth" starrign Kate Beckinsale. Some of you won't. This is because the films production company went into finacial ruin and the film was shelved from it's major theatrical release only a couple of weeks before it's premiere.
The film had been seen by critics and was considered to be good enough for academy nods, especially Beckinsale who was generating early whispers of a best actress nomination. But the demis of the theatrical release let Kate down somewhat.
"(The film) gives her the chance to show off the extraordinary acting chops she has, which maybe she felt got a little lost in the action films she did.
There was talk of a best actress nomination for Kate. Then it was: 'Guess what Kate, your movie is not coming out.' It was extremely sad for her." Rod Lurie.
Kate seems to love going between big movies and smaller indie movies and i feel that she has shown her best stuff in her smaller films (Winged Creatures, Snow Angels). The director also commended Kate as she took a 95% pay cut to be in the film.
Nothing But The Truth is out next week on DVD.
