The guys behind the cult phenomenon The Blair Witch Project have been discussing plans to get a second sequel to their original blockbuster hit. Dan Myrick said in an interview: “Ultimately the decision is up to Lionsgate, which owns the rights to the project and whether or not they want to take the leap with us. But we're developing some ideas and exploring some storylines that we like, and checking out some locations. We'd like to do one. It would be great."
The Blair Witch Project celebrates its tenth anniversary this year and made almost $250million worldwide in 1999. It was followed up by a largely inferior sequel in 2000, and since then there have been rumours of another possible addition to the franchise but nothing has come of them.
I would welcome another entry in this series if it was able to capture the original’s atmosphere. We shall but see.
