There have been a slew of stories and rumours about another Superman reboot for some time now and now V for Vendetta director James McTeigue has said that he wants to move forward with another reimagining.. He says that it is "ripe for a retooling".
Where? In the world of Superman what does he think he can do? Okay, so we didn't have any superman vs villian fisticuffs in the last version but Superman Returns was spot on. It was basically a remake of the original but it was great. There is no need to reimagine, retool or remake Superman again. JUST DO A SEQUEL!
Seriously, Brandon Routh was great as Supes and even better as Clark Kent. Stop going on about new versions and just carry on from the last one. Constant new versions of the same characters and stories lessens the mythology and cheapens each film event.
Reboots and remakes are very popular right now and every director is keen of setting out to use famous characters in their own way, to both make a name for themselves and hopefully to leave something special behind. It's an easy way forward for a director. The name and fan following is already in place.
It's time to move on and start coming up with your own ideas. There are plenty of great scripts out there.
