We have heard Mel Gibson say that he wouldn't LW 3 and that there was no need for a LW 4 but we saw both of those and even though fans still enjoy the exploits of Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh and (ever increasing) gang of regulars Mel gibson has finally said an absolute no to another Lethal Weapon film.
Last year i put up that Shane Black (the original writer of Lethal Weapon) had indeed written a fifth script and handed it to the Joel Silver who thought it was so good he wanted to move forward staight away. I was pretty excited about this as Black is the number one at this sort of script.
Only Mel Gibson has stated that he will not return to play Riggs as he feels the character has come to a natural evolution and there is nowhere left to go with him.
Gibson has also said that he wishes to remain loyal to director Richard Donner and following Donners public falling out with Joel Silver Donner was pushed aside as director for the film.
Shame, guess they really were to old for this shit.
