Cloverfield was one of the most refreshing and original movies of the last ten years and i loved it completely, even though i felt sick as a dog the first time i watched it. It's marketing strategy was pure genius, use the web to promote it to within an inch of it'slike by NOT telling anyone anything about it. Not like the Matrix where it blew its load and not like Blair Witch by telling you the story straight off. Cloverfield told you nothing, showed you less and had everyone guessing, blogging, posting and discussing it for over a year. By the time it came out word of mouth had created a phenomenon about a film that no-one knew anything about. And it worked.
JJ Abrams said that there most likely would be a Cloverfield 2 and that is pretty much all he has given away. But today this has surfaced on the web, a video that is being touted as the first viral video for Cloverfield 2. Could this be the start of JJ's campaign to promote what is sure to be an extremely highly anticipated movie? Take a look as see what you think.
Well? I think it could be. Alot of people are saying that he won't go down the same route as the first one and use hand held cameras and i agree. But what better way to bridge the divide between the two films that to guide us back in by showing other peoples footage recovered from New York after the attack? I think that we'll see more of these videos popping up. After all, how many people could have been recording that day?
Think it's the start of Cloverfield 2 or not?
