Steven Dorff has said that he is in talks to revive the Blade franchise with a series of three prequels telling the tale of how the titular daywalker came to be. Over a year ago Dorff himself came up with the story which would see the return of Blades first nemesis, Deacon Frost in what he describes as an intricate and complicated backstory that would lead up to the events of the first Blade.
Dorff has been pitching the project along with original director Steven Norrington (who would direct) as he is apparently desperate to play Frost once more, or thrice as it would be.
Details over whether Wesley Snipes would be involved are as yet sketchy at best as his jail sentence might rule him out of it altogether. This would be a terrible move i think as Snipes IS Blade, no other actor would convince me otherwise. The man fits into the daywalkers shoes like it was the only role he was born to play.
I hope the Blade franchise returns as i am a fan, even after the third effort was so poorly executed but i don't see why we need a prequel trilogy if it is going to rule out Snipes. Why not just bring Frost back from the dead for Blade 4? Hell, I'd watch the two of them go at it for at least one more film anyway.
You think it should happen or not? What about replacing Snipes?
