It has been announced today that production has officially begun on the first entry of the brand new Tintin trilogy. The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn is being directed by Steven Spielberg and will be a 3D Motion Capture Film.
So far, casting-wise, Andy Serkis was linked to the role of Captain Haddock and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost were confirmed as Thomson & Thomson.
Now Jamie Bell has been cast as the titular Tintin, best known for his breakthrough role in Billy Elliott and most recently seen in Defiance. His Defiance co-star and current James Bond, Daniel Craig has also been given a major part as Red Rackham.
Paramount Pictures and Sony announced this as well as the planned release in 2011, with the second feature to be directed by Peter Jackson and the option remaining for a third.
