Claude Jutra Award for outstanding achievement by a first-time film director: Sarah Polley, "Away From Her"
Sarah Polley's Away From Her was the standout of the night along with Eastern Promises and the biggest surprise was Shake Hands with the Devil which started out with 12 niminations and ended up with only one.
